shocker, isn't it? we may think of writing as a feminine trait, but for most of us, when we think of "great authors," famous ones, we think of men. in english class, women are presented generally for political correctness; they write poetry, or love stories. kate chopin wrote the first "feminist" story, they tell me - and in the end she kills herself because her lover left. feminist, alright.

reading through diaryland, i've come upon so many amazing modern women writers. poets, wits, essayists, authors of exceptional prose. i've gathered these women (and me, 'cause i'm a selfish bitch) and started femmeproject, a collective for fine women writers here at diaryland.
